From Pottery Wheel To Blogosphere

As a potter, my hands are my most trusted tools. They shape clay into bowls, mugs, vases, and sculptures, they bring my ideas to life in tangible, earthy forms. The tactile, grounding nature of pottery has been my sanctuary, a place where I can disconnect from the world and lose myself in my creativity. The digital world feels like the opposite of that comfort. It’s a realm of fleeting moments, intangible connections, and relentless change — everything that clay is not.

However, as you can see, I’m diving into the world of blogging. It’s as nerve-wracking as throwing my first pot on the wheel. But just as I found my happy place with clay, I’m hoping to find it here too.

My fear isn’t just about technology. It’s also about vulnerability. In my studio, I’m in control. I can shape and reshape my work until it feels right. But once something is posted online, it’s out there for the world to see, judge, and critique. The thought of sharing my journey, my successes, and — most terrifyingly — my failures with a faceless digital audience keeps me away from the keyboard.

Shaping The Idea

I’m now seeing parallels between the pottery process and the blogging process. Just as I learned to shape clay, I’m sure I can learn to shape words and ideas. You never know, blogging could become another outlet for my creativity — another way to connect with people, share my passion, and embrace my joy of pottery.

I’m taking a Digital Bootcamp to learn about blogging, website design, SEO’s and social media — terms that make me cringe. I hope it will allow me to reach out to fellow potters, art lovers, and especially those of you who simply enjoy following my creative journey. It’s a way to document my growth, share tips and techniques, and connect..

A Potter’s Final Thoughts

So, here I am, with clay under my nails and a blog on my screen. The wheel still spins in my studio, and now, so does my mind.

Since I’m new to all this, why not let me know what you’d like to hear from me?
