HOME STUDIO POTTERY WORKSHOPS

Pottery is one of the oldest and most widespread of the arts. I have long held a passion for ceramics and am delighted to be able to share my love of clay with you from my home studio. Each object leaves individual marks from the making process, and when we create something from clay, we inevitably leave a little piece of ourselves in that object. It is a tactile, sensory experience, reconnecting with Mother Earth. I aim for you to create a piece of art you will take home and cherish.

The small and bright pottery studio provides a great opportunity for individual tuition or two people sharing. I use stoneware clay and will fire in an electric kiln.

The workshops are structured to be fun and creative, allowing your imagination to run wild during your tuition. No prior knowledge or art skills are required.

Sat/Sun £10 surcharge per person.

Should you wish to have more of your creations glazed and fired there is an additional charge of £5 per lb fired weight.

HIRE THE STUDIO

My weekday hourly rate for using the studio is £25pp/hr, this is for hand-building or glazing. If you attend either the Taster or Beginner Workshop you are welcome to return to the studio to glaze your pieces.

I would allow 1-2 hours per piece, depending on the complexity of your desired glazing process.

What You Need To Bring:

  • Your desire to learn and have fun!

  • Any projects which may inspire you

  • You’ll want to wear old clothing – I have some aprons but feel free to bring your own

  • (btw, fingernails get in the way of clay…!)

Workshop Details:

Feel free to bring drinks in a lidded cup, but we don’t eat in the studio due to getting clay, dust, glaze in your food.

Workshop dates can be arranged directly with me on a date which suits you.

I would kindly request payment upon booking to secure the workshop:

Either a bank transfer or you can pay cash/contactless here at the studio.

The studio is fairly snug and to ensure we are all comfortable there will be a maximum of 2 visitors per session.

When you book a workshop please be aware that bookings are non-refundable. The good news is that you can transfer your place to someone else, so you are welcome to offer it to a friend, just let me know.

If you do need to cancel your workshop please let me know as soon as possible and I will do all I can to accommodate. If it is more than 7 days notice AND I am able to fill your place I may be able to offer you a refund at my discretion (deducting £5 for admin costs)

The minimum age is 14 years old and anyone under 16 must be accompanied by a participating adult for the duration of the workshop and must not be left unattended during the session.

The true perfection of a handmade pot comes from the impossibility of ever creating another piece exactly like it!
